I've been going to flea markets and buying old postcards and scraps of paper to use in my design work, so for the last few days I've been messing around with stuff trying to figure out some kind of a "style" I can cultivate from it all. My experimental projects were revamping my blog pages. I'm not to sure I'm feeling this one, a little too busy maybe. If the blog itself were all text and no photos, the design may have a chance, but as it is now I think the old timey look doesn't mesh well with the color photos in the blog.
My
portfolio blog turned out much nicer, maybe the tones could be a bit less neutral, but overall I like the simplicity of it. I added the Art Nouveau pattern to a scan of an old index card in a style that made it look burnt on, or faded off, depending on how your brain decides to veiw it. I kind of dig it. I'm now obsessed with stained and aged paper. I'll have to put some more thought into this page. Too many pool parties does not do well for the designer's brain. I have to go take a walk now and reset.
Below are a couple of interesting portraits I found last week.
Baci, bisous, besos.
